[DML] idle problems

My car is acting real strange. When you turn the key it starts just
fine, then as it settles down to idle, it spits and sputters and acts
like like it's starving for fuel. It runs fine when you are driving it,
but spits and sputters and shakes at stop lights until it gets fully
warmed up, then the idle starts bouncing around on it. When you turn
the key and the fuel pump pressurizes the system there is a loud thump
on the rear passengers side when it shuts off.
It doesn't act this way all the time. Once out of the 5 times i started
it yesterday it idled just fine.
It has a new fuel pump, injectors, idle speed motor, idle speed
thermister, temperature vacuum switch, fuel accumulator, and fuel
filter, plus a rebuilt CPR from John Hervey. I think the only parts
that aren't new in the fuel system are the fuel relay and the frequency
valve. The intake manifold o-rings were just replaced and I can't find
any vacuum leaks. I'm almost leaning toward the CPR being bad because
it started this all of a sudden and it seems to mostly go away after a
bit. It's almost like there is not enough fuel pressure till it warms
up and then it seems like it bounces around. . The timing is right on
and the air/fuel mixture is real close. Anyone got any ideas? I need to
get it running right for a parade at the end of the month.
I would like to avoid taking it to the german auto repair shop and
have them run tests on the CIS.
