You are correct that the variations are mostly because of the
installation. Being a kit encourages anyone to try to install it with
varying levels of success. Most venders do not work on Island Turbos
anywhere near as much as the stock set-up so even though they all may
be qualified, some have more experience than others by virtue of the #
of Island cars in their immediate area. I have not seen ANY turbo
installations properly take into account the vacuum requirements of
the auto trans. It sounds like this particular installtion was not
properly installed origionally, I have seen the Island set-up and when
it is done right it runs pretty well all things considered so the
basic engineering is sound. It is just that eventually it will cause
engine and trans problems, just ask Mark Levy.
