All of this talk about soldering the boards why hasn't anyone
suggested simply re-riviting the boards? I've had good luck on the
one light that I had to do and plan on drilling off the heads of the
rest of the rivets, removing the hardware, cleaning the board of
oxidation and then re-riveting the whole thing back together. No
smashing with hammers, torquing screws, or overheating the boards.
Of course I realize that I'm not using copper rivets to reattach and
therefore may cause some bi-metallic corrosion in the long run, but
with a good solid clearcoat I don't think I'll be around long enough
to have to refix it! :)
