One argument you could use is that a sports car will have better 
brakes and handle better so you will more likely be able to avoid an 
wreck than with a car that doesn't handle or brake as well.  

I would not recommend a 20 year old car as an only car if you need 
reliable transportation I have an 80 Porsche 924 that I have owned 
for over a year I have put mabey 600 miles on it since getting it 
because it breaks down and alot and then requires alot of time to 
get parts and time to fix it.
