[DML] Shipping a Delorean

I'm shopping for a Delorean and I'm finding that most of the nice 
ones I'm interested in are no where near me.  I'm in Orlando, Fl.  
I'm wondering if anyone out there has had experience with shipping a 
vehicle 2000-3000 miles.  I know people that have had vehicles 
shipped due to work relocation and I haven't heard a good story 
yet.  In all cases they car arrives with some damage or unexplained 
miles or both.  I'm also trying to get an idea of cost so I can work 
this into the overall cost of acquiring a Delorean.  I'm a little 
leary about flying to pick up a car and have my first drive be 2000-
3000 miles back to home base.  Shipping seems to be the best option.

Also, personal preference aside, is there any difference in long 
term reliability between the Deloreans automatic vs. manual 
transmission?
