The distance between the torsion bar and the rear door hinge seems to vary from car to car. On some I see it touching. I recomend cutting a piece of inner tube (or heavy rubber) about 1"x2" and slipping it in between the torsion bar and the hinge. You can grab the torsion bar and pull it away to get enough room to slip it in. Don't wear any rings while you do it, you don't want to scratch the torsion bar. Check both sides.
