I had a similar thing happen to me.  I was at my parents house last weekend detailing my DMC for the last time in the driveway before I put it in storage.  An older gentlemen came up to me and says "that must be a 56 or 57..."  I was in shock.  I told him it was made from 81 to late 82 and he said it looks older than that.  That is the first time I was told it looks older than it is.
