This is always the chance you take when you buy old electronic equipment from ANY source. Even if you test it it could die on you as soon as you get home. You have to figure you average out on a place like E-bay. Some of the items I have bought/sold went for more money than I expected and some went for less. Some were in nicer condition than I expected and some worse. The good news is the radio can be fixed. Look in Hemmings Motor News under "services".
