Not necessarily.  It depends on how the sill and door surround
is constructed.  If door fits into the surround (ie the inner 
door seal fits flush to the inside of the door), it will act
as a cage for the door.  This could provide greater side 
impact protection than the striker/hinge arrangement of a
standard door.
