I'm pretty sure, that that is what the book has me doing. The problem
is, with #1 piston at TDC, when I rotate the cam to line up the
driving pin and slot, a valve opens, striking the piston at TDC.
I -think- what I need to do, is lower the piston, rotate the cam to
the 'tween point that the driving pin will line up, then, raise the
piston to back to TDC and put the chain on.
Once that's done and I rotate the engine by hand, and #1 piston is
going back down from TDC, the exhaust valve should open correct?
Right guys??? :)

physically get UNDER the car. look at the joints of where metal would meet
metal and see if the epoxy is cracked. look inside the rear cross member - that
goes under the oil pan) and see if it is cracked. If the cross mmeber is used
to jack up the car and jack stands are placed wrong the epoxy can be cracked
inside. Check the tie down "loops" see if the epoxy is cracked off. I got my
car and the frame looked MINT. I had foundsome rust under some chipped off
epoxy after I got it home. Nothing to worry about in my case as it was
supperficial. Good luck!

Your best bet is to post where the car is and see if any list members are
willing to check the car out for you.
Buying a car that you haven't seen is one of the worst mistakes you can
make. You might even consider flying to wherever it is to look. It may be
cheaper in the long run.

Go look at the car....if you don't you are taking big time risk. Photos are
no substitute for eyeballs.
Been burned once on a DeLorean and learned my lesson. My second experience
was and remains great thanks to going to the seller and inspecting the car

Mate, this really isn't all that hard.
Look at the diagram - look at your chain. See the timing marks on the
chains? All you have to do is line up the crank and cam so that the
chain goes on with the timing marks in the right place! You don't have
to get the crank and cam precisely lined up, as long as it's near enough
that you can tell where the timing marks on the chains are supposed to
be. If you have new chains with no timing marks , put them on a bench
with the old timing marks - you should be able to see them (all the
stock engine's I've stripped have marks on the chains, but I know Volvo
ones don't come with them). Just get some tipp-ex and mark up your new
chains before you put them on

It all depends on what kind of neighbourhood you live in. I probably
wouldn't park my D outside. If you get a car cover, try to find one that
doesn't say "DeLorean" on it. Why advertise what you're trying to protect?
The only problems that I've had with driving in the rain is that you've
got to make sure your spark plug wires boots are intact. Otherwise you'll
collect water in the spark plug wells and your car won't run. Also, be
sure that your door seals are good and that any and all screws in the
water runoff trough are caulked to prevent leakage.

I don't have a garage here in the UK. I bought a 100% UV inhibitive
water/frost proof cover for my DeLorean when I noticed that the black part
of the bumpers and other black plastic mouldings were starting to go grey
and streak....
The cover stops the leaves, dusty rain, cat paw prints and UV damage to the
dash. The best £150 I have ever spent, wish I had bought it sooner...

Thanks to the good folks here, and at "mission control" in Houston,
I've got the passenger side head work and timing done on the engine.
For those who've recommended it; Yes, I had the heads checked for
warpage. No I did not have them magnafluxed. I didn't do some other
things I would have liked to do. The engine has so little miles on it
that I believe, (and was told by some in authority) that some of the
finer things would be ok undone.
I have the other head off and I'll be working it this week. Things
are moving well now. Who needs luck when you have air tools? ;)
