David,
You are correct when you say that dropping the roll bar may affect front
alignment. On the other hand if the front wheel position is not changed
(turning the steering wheel)during the procedure than the bar should return
to its original position when re-attached to the frame.

Hello List - This request may be a little of the beaten path, but we
need some help up here in the Northwest. Some of you may have caught
on that I am an officer with the Pacific Northwest DeLorean Club,
based in the Seattle area. As a club, we are struggling with
attendance at most of our functions, and we just can't figure out
why. We offer tech sessions during the year, long drives, brunches,
picnics, parties, and 3-day weekends at beautiful locations. We also
support several large parades, and organized car shows. The big
Question - How do we get more people to show up and have fun with
our "core" group? Is it just our club, or do others have a similar
problem? Last year, we even bought brunch for all who showed up at
the Embassy Suites for a wonderful Sunday Brunch. Seven or eight
cars showed up, out of over a hundred cars in the club! If anybody
out there has any experiences with this phenomenon, and has found the
answers ... please let me know! It may benefit other clubs who have
representatives on the List. Thank you so much for your thoughts and
ideas.

Boy do I feel stupid. I've now had my car just over a year and just today I
realized that I have a rear cargo light. Boy is that nice! I think I'm
going to go put stuff there just so it can be illuminated. Just one
quesiton though. Is it supposed to be linked to the door switch like the
front dome light? Mine's either off or on regardless of the door position.

All your cars are better than mine on this subject.
When I first got my car all the lights worked fine, then I had a problem
with the courtesies fuse popping.. Never found out why either..
Then my battery was draining while car was shutdown, discovered that the
passenger side courtesies switch was actually pushed too far into the side
of the dash where it attaches so the door lights were constantly on!
So now, even with the courtesies fuse in (it doesnt pop anymore, but i
usually leave it out) my interior lights dont work and when i flip them to
turn on, my door ajar light comes on instead..
Also my door lights dont come on anymore for either door...
And just last week I discover that my left front turn signal bulb pops all
the time. I replace the bulb, it works fine for a day or so, but eventually
the bulb is blown! I am going to check my 3 big diodes that are related to
the courtesies.. are these diodes linked to anything else? I assume they
are, possibly the turn signals??

winter in Oregon with all sorts of frost building up on car windows and
such.. After the car warms up a bit, the rear window is instantly
defrosted/defogged by the engine heat. So why do we even need a rear defrost
anyway!?! I've never even tried to turn mine on, its unecesary.

Does anyone on the list make or know of a source for making the plastic
engraved name badges?
I know we get a name badge when we get to Memphis, but I would like to make
up a special one similar to my Ham Radio badge. I fly R/C planes and
helicopters and wanted a badge with the outline of a chopper on it. At a
local hamfest a couple had a equipment for the usual engraving but also
facilities for taking a drawing or photo and engraving anything you brought
in to them. I brought in this photo of a chopper and they made up the
engraved version of it with my name and city. I have a PC board setup 3
inches square,with a circle in the form of a "roulette wheel" with 10 LED's.
This will run for 48 hours on a 9 volt battery. Anyone any ideas where to
get the same thing done except with a DeLorean Logo?

We belong to the Camaro, Oldsmobile, Nash, Metropolitan, Delorean and
British Car Union clubs. We have been with some of these clubs for
almost 15 year and during this time we have tried many things.
All of these clubs have the same problem of getting people to attend
events. There is ususally a core of people who make it to most things,
with others at an unpredictable schedule.
One thing we found is that too many events can cause attendance
problems. Most of these clubs schedule 6 events or less per year. The
other thing we do is schedule events in locations where specific people
are targeted for attendance.

I believe that it was said before that the Rear Defroster was
installed mainly due to DOT regulations. So hopefully someone can
clear that one up. But, I can tell you that I have had to use it. If
the engine is warm, and you have to drive thru flood water, the
engine compartment will instantly steam up. So then the Rear
Defroster will definately come in handy! After this, it always clears
up the rear glass before the quarterpanel glass on the sides.
The Defroster works the same on front engine cars as it does on rear
engine ones. It's WHEN they get used that makes the difference. Front
engine cars always have a rubber seal that prevents the steam from
escaping, and the rear glass has no heat source to quickly fog or
clear it.
Except for possibly the louvers that may be holding the steam in,
I've always wondered if MR-2, & Fiero owners have had the same thing
happen to their cars...

Hello all thanks for all your great help over these last couple months with
my New DeLorean. After replacing the Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, Cleaning the
tank, and now replacing the fuel accumulator my D STILL will not start after
I drive it for > 15min and try to start it again >15min. The Cold Start
Valve trick does seem to work but I really need a permanent solution. I am
ALL out of ideas. Does anyone have a suggestions at this point?

Gotta love rumor journalism! Within the annals or automotive history,
JZD is always going to be an easliy recognizable name, with a well
known history with GM. Notably his employment dates! So for a
reporter (working for Forbes of all people) to write about the auto
industry, and not even know about John DeLorean's business happenings
durring the 1980's, or an oil chrisis... I'd have to say that I'm
slightly less than confident in this reporters business advice and
findings.

All Bosch parts carry their part numbers on them. You may not be able to read some of
them, and some may have been superceded, but most places will be able to cross-reference
to the new stuff (eg fuel pump).

Being in my mid-thirties I have yet to totally give up MTV although I do
admit to watching it much less since college. Ahhhh...College....that is a
story for another day.
Moby's recently released video for "We are All Made of Stars" contains a
short segment showing a wide shot zooming-in on a guy seated in a Delorean.
The drivers side door is open. I have only seen it once and will pay more
attention the next time I see it. This is Moby's first single off of his
upcoming album titled "18". Not really a Moby fan, but more so now.

Like people have told me it is a snap job to change the boots.
Remove the bolts the hold the shaft on THe shaft will drop right down.
just remove the bearing cover by tapping it out it should just pop
out.
Remove the lock ring that holds the bearing to the shaft and slide
right out.
Clean slide the new boots on and repack bearing.
Put your keeper right on and your done cover bolts.
I have a few pics on the misc. file.
The only thing that I did not get is the torque values to the bolts
on the shaft.
Is this important.
I also put some anti sieze compound.
Anyone know the torque?
The boots I got from local vender BAP imports for 9.99 each.

I was talking with Ken the other day and he was telling me the events at
the Memphis Delorean Car Show are filling up fast. He was also telling me
some pretty interesting facts about the show so far. He said that quite a few
people who already have hotel reservations have NOT registered for the show
yet, and on the opposite side, many of the people who are already registered
for the events do not show up on his hotel listings...... very interesting
indeed. Having a hotel reservation does NOT automatically guarantee you of
being able to attend all the show events, only registering for the show gets
you into the events. Ken has limits which are set by the Memphis Fire
Marshal, as to the number of people who will be allowed into some of these
events. If you have a hotel room reserved and are planning on attend the
show, I'd recommend getting your registration sent in pretty quickly.

Hello everyone,
Both of the interior lights should go on when you open the
doors. However, you have to set them to go on. The light is a three
position switch. When it is flat or level it is off. Flip the light
one way and it goes on and stays on till you flip it back. If you
flip it the other way from flat, it will go on when you open the
doors. Try this to see if it will work. If it still doesn't work, it
seems that there is an electrical problem.
Also, when the lights work with the door switches, if you get in
or out and close the door quickly, the lights are supposed to stay on
for awhile. This is controlled by the white module in the relay
compartment. Sometimes the capacitor in the module needs to be
changed to get it to work. I had to do that to mine. By the way, if
you keep the doors open for a period of time and then close them, the
lights will probable not stay on. I have heard some owners say that
they feel that the white module helps to drain the battery.

the numbers on my invoice, they call it a 'door finisher'. Warren told

I've noticed the same thing. Oregon winters have never been a problem for
me. Even though the rear defroster works fine the engine heat always defogs
it right away. Oh well. I'm still impressed by the amount of options our
cars had from the factory. Even though it's now twenty years old, for the
most part it's still quite modern and very comfortable.
