Hi all

Iwant to, need to adjust my hood, Now that the car is fully back together
the hood sits to high above the fenders. It lines up perfectly with the
front facia and progresivly gets higher as you get closer the wind screen.

>From what I can see there is no room for adjustment.

What can I do?

Actually the hood is quite adjustable. There are rubber stops at each
upper corner that can be screwed up and down into the body, and I
believe that the latch is also slightly adjustable.

Did you have the fenders off the car? You may have reinstalled them
missing the usual pile of shims between the fiberglass and the
fenders. I've seen cars with as much as 1 cm of spacers/washers in
between the fender and the fiberglass at the top edge. The production
tolerances on the fiberglass underbody were far from perfect.

Dear Wayne,
The Autotalk Module that I mentioned is from a 1989 ad in
Delorean World. The company or person that was selling it may not be
at the address in the ad, but good luck.
The address is; Autotalk, 447 Lambert Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94306,
phone number was 415/325-7074. The price in the ad is $249.95 plus
$5.00 for shipping. Remember this is a 1989 ad.

Subject: Re: RELATED? Electrical Problems

John and Diane,
As to the speedometer, it is not electrical, but a mechanical
system. The most common problem would be that the angle drive out of
the driver's front wheel has broken or one of the cables has broken.
Thes are the most common problems. I have been lucky and not had
these problems. However another possibility is that the cap that fits
over the speedo cable that comes out of the axile is slipping and not
spinning. This would usually cause intermintent readings and bouncing
around of the needle. If this is the problem, putting something that
is compressable over the cap before putting the wheel back on may
give you the pressure on the cap to keep it turning. What you put
over the cap must be compressable otherwise the wheel may not bolt on
properly and wobble and cause extra stress on the studs.
As to the window problem, first try switching the window
switches. If the window works now the switch is the problem. If the
window still doesn't work, you will probably haveto take the door
panel off and trouble shoot from there.
As to the turn signals, hopefully someone else can help you
there.
Happy Holidays,
Gary Masie

The program is called "Legends of the Road", and it was on
ESPN2. I was price checking parts on the internet, and came
across the ad for it on the De Lorean Services website! I
immediately changed over to the channel, but missed the intro!

Nice format of the show as it was a Q&A session with owners
describing everything. Good interview with DMC Joe, and was
interesting to publicly hear about the "Cave Paintings" behind the
door panels for the first time :)

Just wish that we could have gotten a heads-up on the show
before hand so we could all catch it...

The program you are referring to is indeed titled "Legends of the Road"
and
airs nightly at 5:30 PM EST on ESPN 2. The program was recorded in late
summer, in addition to myself, Ben Davis from SEDOC was also featured.
Although the production quality leaves much to be desired the content was
complimentary, informative, and left a very positive image of the
DeLorean.

Copies of the program will be available at the DeLorean Services On Line
Store December 21.

Seasons Greetings

You may have to remove the locking mechanism and elongate the holes to
get more adjustment. Screw the two rubber stop screws all the way in
and set the rear height of the hood with the lock. After setting the
rear height then run the two screws up so that they just touch the
hood. They aren't so much there for adjusting the height of the hood
as they are there for catching in the restraining brackets in the
event of a crash to keep the hood from flying open or going through
the windscreen. Check that the restraining brackets on the hood line
up so they will go into the screws. As long as you are working on the
hood latch it is a good idea to add a backup safety cable so that if
the latch release cable ever breaks you can still get the hood open.
The fenders should be lined up with the doors first and then the hood,
(bonnet), to the fenders. Make sure the latch bar on the hood lines up
and goes into the latch nicely without rubbing and wearing on the lock
mechanism. You know you have it lined up when you can get the hood to
lock just by dropping it from being open just a few inches and when
you pull the hood release the hood pops open. You shouldn't have to
use two hands to open the hood (one to pull the release and the other
to lift the hood). If it doesn't pop up either the latch bar isn't
lined up right or you need to tighten the smaller spring inside the
lock.

that's an easy one. go get a box of washers and use them to shim the
fenders
up from inside the trunk. you will have to play with it to get them right
and be careful not to overtighten the screws. i even had to get some
longer
screws to fit in some plages. but its really that simple.
