I got a sound chip from Radio Shack and burned onto it the sound effect taken from the movie. I then hooked this up to a little powered speaker (ran on "D" batteries) also from Radio Shack, I think, and then connected it to a door pin switch, and set the speaker on the deck behind the driver's seat. A fun, temporary little gadget for shows and things. You can build it in an afternoon for less than $40. The hardest part was capturing the right sound, which I loaded into the computer to remove background noise and to "punch" it up a little. -Ace Underhill- Brilliant Screen Entertainment ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 2 Date: Tue, 11 Dec 2001 20:19:51 -0600 From: "Nick Kemp" <nkemp@xxxxxxxxxx> Subject: RE: Voice Modules for the Delorean Maybe someone remembers a reference to a voice module from a Datsun that worked in the D. I recall reading something about it in a D-World many years ago. If anyone knows the price and is familiar with the product, please share your knowledge with other Delorean owners. How do we order this and what are the phone numbers? Wayne R. In the 80's when the Delorean Club of America was still around, they sold a diagnostic voice module that would tell you if a light was burned out and many other things. Later in the Delorean World Magazines there was an advertisment for "Autotalk". The ad that I am looking at is in Volume 6, Delorean Expo '89 Issue, page 20. In the ad it refers to the device as having the personality of "Tiffany" and the personalities were interchangable by changing a chip. If anybody wants the address, let me know. Hi all, I was out on Saturday night and having had new tyres, Casey's new air filter and re-ballenced and tracked wheels I thought I would give the car a bit of welly down the A12 (dual carridgeway). Anyway it shifted along quite nicley and the spedo comfortably got back round to the 'M' on 'MPH' at the bottom of the speedo, but thenmy turning came up so I had to resume normalspeed. Anway later that night I heard a clicking sound in the drivers foot well and the speedo started to jump around, then the clicking stopped and the speedo died. I had a fiddle with the lower and upper drive cables and both seemed to be ok, but what does the white box in the drivers footwell do? I think this is where the noise was comming from and therefore expect the problem lies here. Any help appreciated as always. Imagine my surprise when I get home from work yesterday afternoon and start flipping through the cable channels. You know the normal ones.... speedvision, ESPN, Fox Sports, and ESPN2... Well of course I had to stop immediately on ESPN2 when I saw a Delorean. Turns out a whole show was dedicated to the Delorean (I'm just guessing on the whole show -- I only caught the last 10 or so minutes). Besides hearing the usual how many cars were made, the type of engine, stainless steel panels, estimates on value, you actually get to see DMCJOE. Yes you get to put a face with the e-mails and the voice at the other end of the phone. Good job Joe, and the owner who appeared on the show as well (I'm blanking on your name, sorry) This is the good type of press that the DMC name needs and deserves. I've got a digital model file all ready to send to a manufacturer, my problem is I can't find anybody that will do it cheap enough to get the DMC parts suppliers to bite. If anyone knows anyone who has the capability and might be interested in developing these parts let me know! We've got a good start on it. You can see a few jpgs of my model file in the photos section of the yahoogroups website. the URL is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnews - Click on the photos link on the left side - Click on the "Album" named steering column shroud Let me know via private e-mail if anyone is interested in helping me develop this. jhaldeman(at)fuse.net Thanks, Josh VIN 5102 VIN 15964 dherv10 wrote: > Group. The "little white box" you are refering to is the lambda counter. It's purpose is to light the lambda light in the instrument panel at the proper intervals to inform the operater it's time for maintainence. My guess is that you are having trouble with the lower cable, (the one from the angle drive to the lambda counter). Either it is damanged where the inner cable connects to the counter or it is too short and is slipping where it is supposed to connect. The way to fix is usually to replace. If you have an "early" car you might also need a support bracket by the angle drive. It is also possible that the cable is actully broken. The little white box is a mechanical counter for the Lambda system. It turns on the "LAMBDA" light when you have gone a certain number of miles, and the oxygen sensor should be replaced. It expresses itself in terms of "percentage life" ... and must be reset when it has turned on the light. Naturally, you should replace the sensor at the same time that you reset the counter. This counter has some gears and other mechanisms inside, and could possibly "eat itself", causing a disconnect in your speedometer drive. Good luck.
