Thats for the responses but I must not have been clear in what I was
asking. I was asking what that thing is on the console to the right
of the light dimmer. There is a plug and a little square grill. It
appears to be a factory item. Thanks.
[MODERATOR NOTE: As I understand it, this question was answered. On my early 81 car, to the right of the dimmer is a digital clock, about 2" x 3" rectangular. This clock was not put in later DeLoreans, leaving a raised rectangle molded into the console. Perhaps somone either removed your clock or cut out the rectangle?]

Jason, Providing you don't have any vaccum leaks and the three idle mixture
screws are all the way down. Also make sure the Idle speed switch is making
contact to turn on the Idle speed motor and ECU unit. If all that seems to be
ok, the the Air flow meter may need a little tweeking. You can see info on

Paul, Would not stop it from running or starting, but would hinder it from
enrichment when needed at full throttle. Try adjusting your air flow meter
1/4 turn either direction. That should start the car. It's adjusted to lean
more than likley.

Gus, There you are, I have learned, that more than 2/3 of the people may not
feel comfortable in doing wiring and don't have the proper tools. Thus I try
to make everything Plug and Play. Sometines it can't be done but that is why
it isn't on the web site. If people don't mind pulling wires or splicing
wires,soldering,crimping, then there is a lot that could be done. It's a
challenge to me and others to keep it as simple yet effective as possible.

DMC Houston's website states in their FAQ that while the no longer
perform any RHD conversions, they might be able to put you in touch
with local shops that can perform the task. Perhaps they may also
know a source for the RHD steering racks?

The bottle is correct. The more water the better the cooling (but the less
corrosion protection and lubrication for the water pump). If you run 50/50
and then have to add some water while on the road you are still in good
shape because you will only be diluting it down to the (?) 70/30 range.
Having the ability to dilute safely is like carrying spare Antifreeze with
you at all times. Nice to know when you are out on the road.

I asked him this exact question at Cleveland last year, and the answer was
no. I asked "Why not?". He replied "I'd rather have one of the new cars."
(referring to the new cars he is attempting to build). I later asked his
daughter the same question, and she said that he does eventually want to get
one back, and they are just waiting until the "right one" comes along. You
would think for a man that poured a the majority of his life into this car
that he would own at least one, but I suppose they took it all away with the
bankruptcy,

I saw a post on this a few months ago, but can't find it in the
archives:
During the summer, hot air rushes in by my feet. In the winter, it is
cold air. What is not functioning properly?
ALSO!!:
Without the AC on, just the vents, I hear something (like a flap of
some sort) flapping at speeds over 60mph. Are the two above items
related?
And, (one more thing, while I'm at it) when I turn on the AC, I hear
a fan squealing for about the first 15 seconds it is on...seems
predominately on the passenger side. Is the a belt? A bearing in the
fan? It is hard to figure out where exactly it is coming from, since
the noise resonates through the ductwork to the passenger side AC!

wheelwell where someone in a parking lot snagged it.
What does is the price range involved to have the folks at the

As you know the Heartbreak Hotel has sold out.
I have been able to obtain an alternative hotel for the event and while I
have quite a few roms when these are gone the event itself will be sold out.
Your interest has been overwhelming and this has allowed me to make the
following addition:
The arrangements are being made and this is subject to change but it appears
that for those people not able to make the Ireland trip we will be able to
bring a bit of Ireland to you.
George Crane, the former DeLorean employee that delivered the powerful and
emotional tours at the factory this summer at Eurofest, will be coming to the
show. He will be bringing with him some of the literature and information
from the plant including fax's from JZD to Ireland during the time the plant
was open.
His love for the car and JZD will make this an event you will not want to
miss.
At the show he will be seeing John DeLorean for the first time since the
factory closed.
I am working on some special plant video and hope to make that part of the
event
but that will come later I hope.

I had the original vacuum hose air removal system on my Delorean last year.
The hose got old, broke off, wrapped itself in the belt for the water pump,
created a overheat condition, bubbled over the overflow bottle. I smelled
the antifreeze suspecting the car in front of me, then realizing there was
none, checked my gauges and looked at the steam in the rearview mirror, and
pulled over. I have my own trailer, so I then called the wife and she and I
towed it home. A belt would have been nice. I purchased the overheat kit
with the hose hooking up to the heater hose and installed it and have been
extremely pleased with the reduced temperature since. Not overheated since.
No fanzilla or any of that stuff. Do later vin's not have some of the
problems everyone allways talks about? My fans seem fine. Sorry I'm
rambling, but the moral of the story is, have a cell phone close by with a
wife and trailer and there are no worrys.

Where is the imagination? If you have problems, obviously you need a beautiful woman, a bottle of decent bubbly, 2 glasses, and eventually someone will come by who knows more about the systems and will fix it. It's not the end of the world! So you have to wait a while.
By the way, while in Michigan this past weekend with mine, and seeing 2 car shows, I spotted an automatic Delorean for sale in Port Huron, Michigan, at a used car dealer - 1981 with hood creases no gas flap, needs loving but has potential, asking $18,000. told it runs well. He commented that my car was too nice to sit next to his it for the evening cruise drive by (about 1000 cars), so I didn't offer him any comment about fixing the detached rear door extension or how bad it looks with the relay / fuse board lying on the rear ledge.

From 100 feet away, all our cars appear to be identical (unless painted). But there were so many production changes that it is often difficult to even guess what a problem is with out the VIN number of the car. For example, most know that there are 3 different hoods, but not many know that there are 3, not 2, different
radios and 2 different rear louvers. Etc., etc., etc.
So please include your VIN number when you ask a question.

Ryan, the fuel light comes on when the float in the fuel sender
reaches the bottom of the tank. The rear defroster light will come
one when the rear defroster, whichis controlled by the middle
rocker switch in the center console (between the two window
switches), is switched on. The rear defroster is controlled
independently of the front one. Judging by your vin of 16301, you
shouldn't have the blue fan fail module. If you still have the
original factory installed fan fail bypass, the fan fail light will
never come on. If you have installed a fanzilla, the fan fail light
will come on when one of the fan fuses (located in the fanzilla)
blows.

Dave Howarth is still working on it, he has ONE new old stock RHD steering
rack, but is not willing to let it leave his premises (understandably) but
anyone is free to inspect it, measure it etc to try and find its "brother",

I occasionally see posts about spare keys. For all it is worth, I received
my car with one key (from a Volvo blank). Tried several places to get a
spare and finally ended up at a Lowes building supply store (closest
locksmith did not have convenient hours or location).
They did not have an exact match for my key; however, it appears their Axxess
+ System will copy a key using blank number 37. The only ketch is it does
not cut the key far enough back to allow the key to be fully inserted into
the door or ignition.
I took my handy dremil tool (being safe to avoid shavings/grit in the eyes,
etc...) with a grinding stone and trimmed off the extra 1/8" on the top and
bottom of the key and it seems to work fine. I plan on making a couple more
inexpensive spares this way and once I am confident they all work I will send
my "non-original" key off to Houston for a real copy. It may cost more but
some things are worth the price (this cheap key just doesn't do my brass DMC
keyring justice).
I'm using the key today so anyone care to pass me their phone number in case
I get locked out and need a ride home? :-)
