DAMAGE CAN be done,to a Automatic tranny cars,if it is towed by the
front wheels(front of the car) ,because if the rear wheels are
spinning at speed without the engine running, what is happening is
that the automatic tranny is spinning(operating) without any pressure
from the tranny oil pump(it only operates when/and by the engine
running)so that you are operating a unlubricated tranny without any
hydraulic pressure and could possibly do some serious automatic
tranismission Damage. So the number one rule if you are going to tow a
Delorean is to Tow from the rear of the car ONLY,if it is a AUTOMATIC
car,Only cars with a front and rear pump can be towed with the
automatic tranny at speed with out the engine running.

The rubber hoses to the calipers tend to expand when they get heated
up. Usually consistant stop and go driving will do this. That is one
of the conditions that will cause "squishy" brakes. Also the reason
why it got firm again after waiting is becaused they cooled down to
the point where they wouldn't expand due to the heat. To totally
eliminate this in the future, replace them with stainless steel
braided hoses. I remember seeing them for sale on one of the Delorean
sites, I don't remember where. Maybe one of the other DMLers will
know.

List,
When I first start my car and let off the clutch in first gear, I get a
rumble from the transmission/cluctch area. Could this be related to the
throw
out bearing? It seems as if the gear and clutch "don't catch, then catch"
repeatedly. It lessens as I get going. When fully warmed up, it smoothes
out...Or, do I have a more serious problem, like the transmission?

Around my area (connecticut)they(AAA) only allow three breakdowns
(towings) per year, after that they charge you for the towing!!I
would recommend Sears Allstate towing club,as they allow unlimited
towings.And have many more perks.

My D is at the mechanic, and has been diagnosed with a failed cooling

part?

I recently experienced the exact same symptoms. They are not uncommon and
usually mean the master cylinder is failing. I would replace it before it
gives out completely at the wrong time. I replaced mine with one from PJ
Grady. Works fantastic and is adjustable for desired pedal height.

Subject: De Lorean animation added to my web page...(worth seeing :)
Hey List,
Tonight I guess you could say I was bored, so I spent a couple hours
(yes hours) and created this De Lorean related animation. Before you go
onto
my web page, please imagine the AOL sign on screen and the De Lorean, put
them together then go on my web page. So please take another few minutes
and
check it out. Please remember that its sorta a big image so it will take
some extra time to load, but after it loads it will repeat so you won't
miss
it. Everyone I showed it to, loved it, so please if you like it, send me
an
e-mail and let me know. Thanks again.

You didn't mention your vin. If the last 5 digits are 10000 or higher
it's
an '82. I forget the month DeLorerans "rolled over" into the new "model
year," such as it was. And Oct '81 wouldn't be an '83. See your auto
registration. It should be correct.
