Not to get too far off this thread, but my vin 3461 has the dash clock and
the Craig radio with the clock in the face.
I also have the labels that were for sale on ebay. They are installed in my
car, but if you can find them, they look great.

Subject: Gray "Scotchal" Stripe
I know that alot of people have been wondering what the Scotchal
stripe looks like (the thin gray one). If you go to DMC Houston's web
site, there is a picture of a car that has one. Just go
into "Performance", and then look under lowering. The car with the
stock highth has the stripe on it. The stripe goes from the front
fenders to the quarter panels, but doesn't touch the facias. And it
also has the DMC logo under the side vents. Hope this helps answer a
long running question!

I think we've all discovered that many cars have one or the other of the
Craig radios. The parts manual lists the cutoff for the counsel clock as vin
# 6158. I'm sure any radios replaced at the quality assurance centers or by
previous owners were of the clock in the tape deck door variety. I think the
thread has about run it's course so I'm killing it.

The front speakers in the dash are standard 3" (3.5"?) round speakers, the
rear speakers are 4x10, and kindof a pain to get to... You'd be better off
putting a couple 6x9 boxes on the back shelf or some other speaker idea...
I fabricated a new back wall and installed 6x9's flush-mount ... they're
crappy old speakers and they sound better than any 4x10's I listened to.
I've also heard of folks using different sized speakers in the dash by
fastening bigger speakers upside down or something... The delorean is so
noisey inside it seems pretty useless to go overboard with the audio...
unless you like to listen to your music when you aren't driving..... I went
through about 6 rolls of Dynamat and 10 cans of wheel-well coating before I
gave up... good luck ;)
As far as the night illumination on the gauges... it apparenly isn't a giant
concern of the majority of the people on the list... I think it's one of the
car's largest weak-spots... maybe my night-vision isn't as keen as everyone
else (or I live in a darker part of the world?) hehe.... I tried replacing
all of the bulbs in the binnacle with the brightest bulbs I could find...
(although I haven't tried halogen yet.. kinda afraid I'd melt something)....
I'll most likely give up and buy a digital gague cluster from
dakotadigital.com or construct my own mad scientist idea... maybe we could
start a "poorly lit gauge" support group?

I know this may sound kind of dumb, but what exactly is causing the
asbestos to break down? Are the shields breaking because of the force
of the wind & car vibrations, or is it water? Granted my car only has
20,030 miles on it, but it has also spent it's entire life in the
desert. On my car the asbestos is hard to the touch, and doesn't
flake. But on other cars where it did break apart easily, they were
all in wetter climates. If water is the culprit, then I'll probably
just stick w/the asbestos. (Note: The only damage to the shields on
my car is from an unknown mechanic that the previous owner went
through. Studs on a Volvo water pump punctured through durring the
installation) Thanks again.

The first thing I would suggest you do is put some white grease on both door
pegs. Now close the door, once only please. Open the door and see if the
latch is in fact hitting in the middle of each peg. If not, shim the peg with
horseshoe shims. (I had to shim my front peg about 3/16")
DO NOT attempt to remove the peg by totally unscrewing it, the back plate
will fall behind the pontoon.
Each peg has about a 1/2 inch movement for adjustment. Start by loosening
each peg and move to the full top center position and retighten. Close the
door again and check the fit to the rest of the front and rear body panels.
Adjust the pegs accordingly.
Generously grease the latch when you have completed the adjustment.

I got mine from PK Grady. It's stainless steel and it looks great! Just be
careful not to scratch it when you install it. It's not hard to install. I
replaced my ... (shoot, I forget what it's called...) the wrist sized
metallic hose that runs along it, at the same time. Since it looked
terrible... rust and all. And installed a bleeder kit from the thermostat
housing to the bottle. I'm not a skilled mechanic, but these were all very
easy to do.

My only objections to the original heat shield is that it is asbestos,

Regarding the asbestos heat shields...
When I purchased my 'D' the heat shields were a little rough .. (okay
the big flat one had a hole in it, the catalytic one was a little
frayed...) the edges were indeed hard, but in the center, by the
pulley where the hole was ... they were soft ... quite possible from
water..
Anyway, I purchased both heat shields from DMC Houston, the catalytic
on was the same asbestos material, but the other was a different,
thinner, stiffer, metallic-looking material.
Don't know what it was though (James??) ... but I like it....

I think that if you will check the various models of the Delco blower
motor you will find that for some vehicles they run clockwise and for
others they run counter-clockwise e.g.. Buick vs Chevrolet. The
discussion over modification isn't really necessary if you pick the
right model. Having said this and put myself at risk of attack, I don't
have the specific part numbers. I did replace mine several years ago &
went through the same search for a solution. (Before I discovered that
there were 2 genders of motor).
