OK, fine, I'll go to Ireland without my car, but nowhere else. :-)
Seriously, for car events that are centered around driving you must have
your car or you feel like a fifth wheel, so to speak. The first
automotive
event I went to had a track with hotlaps, and autocross, etc. I got to
stand and watch on the sidelines. Didn't like it one bit!

P.S. Haven't settled on a shipper yet for the car. Will post details
when
I do.

I'll make this brief

I was at the Holiday Inn today and they were able to free more rooms up
plus
if there are any cancellations we get them. So I have rooms again.
So Call the Holiday Inn first I think we will be ok for a while

thanks

Ken

I'm very much in the market for a D..... How many people will be
offering their D's for sale? Can I consider this a really big
shopping opportunity? If so, I'll fly in, and hopefully drive home.

Thanks,

- Hank

Subject: Blower Motor Reversed??

I have had a longstanding problem with the minimal volume of air coming
from
the interior air vents even with the fan switch on the highest position.
The
problem had once been diagnosed as the fan running backwards, and I
finally
removed it to check (all of four small screws and a couple of electrical
connectors!!).

The fan motor is running clockwise (as viewed facing down at the removed
fan
unit)and the fan vanes are moving in the wrong direction to blow air. The
squirrel cage can't be flipped over. The motor has MADE IN USA on the
outer
plate. the center of the squirrel cage has imprinted 3R , a small arrow
pointing in the counterclockwise direction, then 303 6834.

The connection on the bottom of the unit is positive with one male spade
connector. The other connection is a triple spade unit that mounts on the
same baseplate which I believe is the ground or negative.

Is this unit adaptable by changing the squirrel cage with one with the
vanes
in the right direction? Or the wiring switched? Or is a new unit
necessary??
It runs flawlessly (just not effectively).

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Everyone...

I had a De Lorean experience this easter weekend I'd like to tell you
all about.

I spent this Easter with my Aunt and Uncle in Sayville, NY.
The entire time I was there, there was something I couldn't figure out.
I knew there was something interesting in Sayville, and I just couldn't
figure out what it was.

Then it struck me. P. J. Grady!

As a De Lorean enthusiast, who had never seen a D in real life, I seized
the opportunity. I went over there to find several Deloreans. Many of
them looking VERY good (all shiny and nice).I even saw a red one.

There was one that particularly impressed me. I could only see this D,
with South Carolina plates, from behind, but it just looked beautiful.

Whoever owns that car should be proud. its a beauty (anyone on the
list?)

Anyway, my aspirations to own a Delorean were strengthened during
easter, and I look forward to being an owner ASAP.

/Matt

ADMIN NOTE: I believe there are various pre-purchase checklists
as well as pre-purchase inspections available from various
sources. Check the archives as well as the DMCNews web site
(and DMC's web site) for existing/available information on
purchase checklist items.
         Knut

Chris,

The 2 & 3 rd thing to check for is the electrical harness
and the cooling (fan motor) operation. The D's are know to
have overheating and electrical problems.

Bill

Even if there are not many DeLoreans for sale, it would be a good
opportunity to see al different examples of these cars, and get a better
impression of what you really want to look for. You can also hit everyone
up for information about their car and their experiences with it . . .

Subject: Rewards of car show attendance (even without your car)

I've seen a couple messages regarding attendance at Ken's upcoming event
without a car, and would like to offer a different viewpoint. I have had
the fortune of participating in several national DeLorean events,
including Ken's outstanding Cinncinatti event a couple years back. Because
Oregon is not exactly the most central location, I have found it
impractical to attend with my DMC. However, I have always found the
national DeLorean events to be extremely rewarding to attend and would not
suggest anyone consider not attending because they find it impractical to
bring their car.

Many of the rewards of attendance are realized without necessarily
bringing a car, and I have actually found the resultant opportunities to
make new friends as a result to be particularly rewarding. Most of the
events do not necessarily require a car as an integral element, and even
those that do provide opportunities for those attending without their car
-- as an example, at the St. Louis Expo, I got the opportunity to ride
with Bill Swilley for the wine country tour and appreciated the
opportunity to meet and get to know this interesting and kind man. As a
result I have made a new friendship (I hope I get a chance to meet Bill
again this time) that I perhaps would not have made if I had my own car
for the rally.

My point -- Ken's upcoming show will surely be an outstanding event like
his last one, and I would recommend anyone attend that might find the
event interesting, regardless of whether they find it practical to bring
their car.

	Knut

You can just reverse the wires. This was covered in several
discussions a couple of years ago (search the archives on "blower"),
but no one has mentioned it in a while. Apparently it's easy to hook
it up backwards, and it often happens (blame the prior owner). No
need to replace anything.
