Oh for goodness sake: I said that's the way it *SEEMS* not the way it is. I'm a good protestant. I know God isn't pulling strings while we dance like marionettes. But by the same token it *WOULD* be nice if every once in a while He would reach down and nudge a storm or two back out to sea.

Exactly when did sympathy and empathy become negative traits? I must have missed that memo. It's a sad commentary on the state of human affairs when someone gets criticized for saying "I wish this hadn't happened to you." Our next president appears to face bigger problems than just the economy.

Would I be criticized less for acting like a Westboro Baptist protester? If so, I'm sorry -- I'm not willing to do that. I do not know everyone in Long Island, but I do know some of them. That alone qualifies me to say: Tom and Dave, I rejoice you are OK. Louis, it pains me to think of your family being slammed by a wall of water. Big and Little Lou, I still wait for news like an expectant teenager by the phone.

Geez Louise people.
