The Eldo had been converted back to R12 and as far as I know, nothing needed to be done to use the Freeze 12. My garage did have to use their old R12 equipment they still had on hand to add the Freeze 12 since the car had the old R12 fittings. You can also get new R12 on Ebay that is still made in Mexico. I would prefer the origional Dupont IG-LO brand R12 if available . I have had my Delorean for 10 years and have only added two cans of R12 in that period of time. I was reading online about Freeze 12 and Industrial 12a, and it was saying that you still had to replace the R12 fittings to accept Freeze 12 and Industrial 12a. What all did you have to do to your Eldorado a/c before you could use Freeze 12? My advice is to find and repair your leak and stay with R12. You can still find R12 on ebay and Freeze 12 is still available as a substitute. I just restored the AC in my 78 Eldorado and used Freeze 12. I converted it to 134a once and the higher pressures blew the old hoses. When that happened I bought a new compressor, purged the system and went back to R12. If you need a source for Freeze 12 contact me, I just bought a case of it (12 cans) for $159 which included shipping costs. You may find it cheaper than that but my source had quick delivery, I ordered at 9AM one day and had it by Noon the next day and the source was not local. I've done all my own work on my car, but am afraid to tackle an R134 a/c conversion. Last fall I drove to PA. and had some welding work done on the frame, in the rear and up front around the right fender. On the way back to MD the a/c got weaker and weaker and finally shut off. Now it seems I have a leak somewhere in the R12 system and am thinking that it should first be converted over to R134 before trying to troubleshoot the leak?
