I think the fact remains that anytime you have wires, cables, hoses, etc  
winding through a piece of the suspension, it is just plain risky.   You don't 
see manufactures or garages doing things like this even though it  might be the 
easiest way out.  
 
As always, when deviating from the norm/OEM - do so at your own risk!
