Some would argue Ford is to blame for the exploding tires.  As customers complained about the harsh ride of the truck (DUH, its a Truck!) Ford issued a TSB telling the dealers to lower the tire pressure for a softer ride.  It is the low tire pressure that caused the tires to fail.

DeLorean Content;  Check your tire pressure!  :)

No matter what, Ford is to blame because even with a massive tire blowout the vehicle should not go out of control and flip over.

Remember - Firestone made all of those tires
for Ford Explorers at the same time they were
a supplier to Champcar and other series.
