[DML] Vinyl trimming question

Hello.

I'm prepping my car for the trip to Gettysburg for DCS08 (sorry I
haven't registered yet, Ken.  Will do very shortly)

My interior vinyl pieces aren't properly finished off.  I've noticed
that the correct looking cars have what looks to be a kind of grey
tape that connects the vinyl interior pieces to the weather stripping,
making the boundary look very nice.  

Can one of you cosmetically-minded people tell me how this is done? 
Is the vinyl glued to the under body?  Does one glue the
weatherstripping? 

I did a search, but don't even know what to call the tapey looking
stuff, so your help is appreciated.
