More likely they employ TWO fuel pumps. One in the tank (or very nearby) which is called the "Transfer Pump" and another to boost the pressure up to full line pressure. The system won't work without both pumps running. Are you proposing we trade the accumulator for a second fuel pump? The system we have is just fine till the parts get old and fail. A new accumulator will probably last another 20 years. Will a fuel pump?
