I'd look at the connectors on the big ignition
resistor on the firewall.  Also check the connectors
right at the coil.
It may also be helpful to carry a timing light with
you.  Next time it does not start, see if you have
spark (using the light).
It is possible that a problem in the ignition
electronics are not activating the fuel pump relay.. 
Once you try it a few times something may change in
the system that give you enough power to get a good
spark... and keep the pump relay closed.
