Glenn, I just helped another person start his car and it's running good now after it sat for a while. First thing is to have a fully charged battery that reads 12.6 to 12.8 volts across the terminals with a DVM. This is a must. Then if you have tried to start the car several times you have flooded it and then when it did hit you blackened the plugs. You have to remember that every time you try to start the car it drags the battery down and it doesn't start right off then you need to unplug the cold start valve so you won't over enrich the system. Replace the plugs and with a fully charged battery it will start. I was able to jump the battery and get the car started, but the engine is severely stumbling/sputtering. It sounds like it's not firing correctly. It takes about 20 seconds of cranking to start, then blows a blueish smoke (for 5 mins or so). It also won't idle on it's own. If I stop giving it gas, it stalls. The battery was a few years old, so I replaced it. The car fires right up with the new battery, but it's still running as described above. In November PJ Grady did extensive work on my car (new lines, injector hoses, fuel filter, a couple new injectors & some cleaned, new fuel distributor, new plugs...etc, etc, etc). The car was running fantastic. I mention this because it was starting and running great before I let it sit. I can't imagine anything needs replacing. I'm guessing I flooded the system with gas trying to start it excessively. If I'm correct, how do I go about solutioning this?
