That's why a "diesel" railroad locomotive is really a diesel-electric
machine. The axles are turned by giant electric motors. The only
purpose of the diesel engine is to turn a generator (the locomotive
basically carries its own electric power plant).

Internal combustion engines will never match the torque output of
electric motors.

Keep experimenting. Even though you may well be the only owner to
benefit, I think experimentation is part of the fun of DeLorean ownership.
