I personally have done a lot of research on ethanol and have used it in my lawnmower, which worked well, as I didn't produce enough to test it in my Daytona. I'm not an expert on the subject but I'm good at chemistry and have done a good deal of research on this. Ethanol is essentially pure grain alcohol or PGA. I have seen alcohols break down rubbers and plastics but I haven't seen anything to suggest that it would corrode or eat metals. They put in a little gas to pure ethanol to prevent people from drinking it then dilute it down further later. B12 which is mostly acetone is stronger than ethanol or at least more corrosive. I am planning on testing parts in the D fuel system in regards to its resistance to ethanol. E85 doesn't require as much modification to the fuel system as most people think, thats why its 15% gas and 85% ethanol. The 15% gas gives it the combustibility needed to remain usable when cold. I don't think that its an unrealistic idea of using E85 or even 100% Ethanol there are some things that need to be changed but nobody has done research as to what exactly will need to be changed. I now have an EFI system in my car and I have the old fuel system still attached to the old engine. When I get around to testing with Ethanol I will be sure to let you guys know what I come up with.
