Checked my trailing arm bolts the other day and I have a few questions. 1) I have an automatic, so the driver's side TAB is in a very tight space. I've read several of the "How-To's" on the main site as well as on DMCTalk so I'm familiar with the concept of freeing the trailing arm by removing the bolts on the wheel hub, presumably allowing some movement of the bolt so it can be removed. However, how exactly do you get a wratchet/wrench onto the TAB head with such little space such that you can hold the TAB steady and loosen the nut on its opposite end? Does the tranny need to be dropped/raised? My bolts are installed such that the head is towards the transmission (I believe most are like that.) 2) The driver side has a typical (according to diagrams) set up: 3 shims sandwiched between the trailing arm and the large washer on top of the bushing. The passenger side has a different setup in that it has 2 of the large bushing washers, one against the trailing arm followed by 2 shims and then the second washer atop the bushing. Is this typical or did someone substitute a washer for a shim? 3) How much, if any, lateral movement should one see when gripping the rear wheel at 9 and 3 and moving it side to side? When I perform this I cannot feel the wheel move nor see it move. however, if I watch the trailing arm at the bushing when an assistant does this I see the arm move between 1-2mm because of the bushing compressing. I'm assuming this is a no-no? The bolts appear to be straight (I want to stress the word appear since I was unable to loosen the driver side), the shims are not loose and do not rotate freely. Thanks in advance. -Kevin VIN2234 ___________________________________________________________________________________ You snooze, you lose. Get messages ASAP with AutoCheck in the all-new Yahoo!
