FWIW DEpt.   Years ago, believe it or not, I got brave and phoned John DeLorean and had a nice little chat with him.....sure wished I had recorded it but I didn't, so I have no proof.   He told me that the money counters in the organization wanted him to put in Ford V6 engines which cost about $1K versus the Volvo version which would cost $5K.   He refused to budge.  FWIW Dept.
