The train wreck is Hollywood's vision of what is should look like. In the documentary they explaned how they rigged the car so it would crash the way it did. They obviously were NOT doing a crashworthiness test! As for parts flying, they could have been random parts clipped and edited to look like they flew from the crash. You cannot use the train wreck in any way as an example. This is NOT the way labs crash test cars!
