To do a good job and not make a mess you will probably want to remove the mounting plate from the car before you cut it anyway. So your objection to the labor part of it kinda goes away. The quality of the job you will do and the debris it can leave in the car would probably depreciate the car more than having a non stock setup. If you were very careful and took a lot of precautions to do a good job without messing anything up, you are already doing more work than if you just removed it and did it right. Once its out you have the choice of cutting yours with mixed results, or just ponying up the cash to buy one from DMCH. You may be able to sell your radio and plate to help offset the cost of the new plate. At the end of the day, an hours worth of work swapping the plates, and $150 in parts are par for the course for a 25 year old car. If you don't do this you will probably end up replacing the steering bearing, a fuel filter, your AC fan, or any one of another hundred projects that will require a little cash and time. Your obviously going to do a good job and use the right parts for those jobs (because you care about the value of your car), so treat this the same way. $150 and an hour or so of work is a light sentence in my book. ________________________________ From: marv2020 Subject: [DML] To Cut or Not to Cut..Front Dash for Radio I can't make a decision; will I really greatly depreciate my Delorean by cutting into the dash and replacing the Craig Radio?
