This is a guess but it is likely that you will need a new bendix for
the starter. The way it is usually done is to just replace the starter
or get yours rebuilt. In an exteme case you may also need a new ring
gear for the flywheel. You could have a spot on the ring gear with
teeth worn off so whenever you try to start it at that spot it grinds.
