K Jetronic PRV's were designed for honest to goodness EGR through the U pipes (that's what the port under that plate is for). Volvo used it on North American imports -- look closely at the B27F pic in #5939's photo album. DeLorean of course did not. Did not use a smog pump either as Volvo did. Bruce is right about the hot air pipe: does not route anything from inside the engine. Simply allows outside air to be drawn over the exhaust manifold to heat it up.
