Most 5 speeds i have driven the shifter always sits in the middle of 
the neutral position. I think this was for an easy shift from 2nd to 
3rd for racing purposes, all you have to do is push up from second gear 
and your in 3rd. any way my Delorean also rests in the middle in 
neutral.
