Hey all, soon i intend on dropping my drive shafts for boot service and to clean the CV joints and repack them. is this best done: 1. with the car lifted up and the suspension hanging 2. with the car lifted up and the wheels jacked up to simulate load. any tips out there, i would appreciate it before i begin. i have been doing quite a bit of 'little things' on my car so far this winter. i finished a valve adjustment this month which included getting the valve covers and control pressure regulator glassbeaded and painted. they look excellent! i also removed my muffler and polished the tips ('82 style), replaced all the bolts and washers for the mounting brackets, and had the two main brackets glassbeaded and painted black. we'll see how long that lasts! i also removed my catalytic converter (which happened to be hollowed out by a previous owner, and i just discovered that when i got the thing out!!) and am installing the eliminator pipe from Ed Uding. i just need some hardware for that i'm ready to go. also purchased the K&N kit from Marty Maier. Right now i removed my engine compartment crossbrace, the bracket that holds the ignition resistors to the firewall, and the bracket that holds the diagnositic plug to the head, i had all three of those glassbeaded and they are currently at the powdercoaters getting coated black. after i get this done, then i will do my driveshafts, followed by a steering rebuild with a rebuilt steering rack, new tie rod ends, and a new intermediate shaft from Darryl Tinnerstet. then.......... well then i need to think about what i will eventually do with my frame! why does winter have to last so long and why is it only the end of november? i want to drive!
