12 July 2001 Everyone who has registered for the De Lorean Motor Company Open House event was sent this email earlier today, this message is to inform the rest of the DeLorean community and those who may yet still be considering attending the event. Much to our dismay, construction delays as a result of Tropical Storm Allison this past June have made it impossible to complete our new headquarters and warehouse in time for the event. We are very disappointed, as you might imagine. Since this fact became known to us yesterday, we have wrestled with the "go/no-go" decision on the event. All of the registered attendees have made some arrangements to attend (time off work, airlines reservations, etc). The fact that the DeLorean Owners Association is not having an expo in the U.S. this year also weighed on our minds. For many DeLorean owners and enthusiasts, our event was the one event that they had planned to go to all year long. It is for those reasons that we have decided to carry on with the event. While we will not have the warehouse completed, or all the parts moved to Houston, we will still be having the concours and People's Choice show (over a dozen cars are already registered for these two events), we will still have the rally, the test drives of the cars equipped with our new engine and suspension package, and more. If you desire not to attend, we understand and will refund your registration fee promptly, just call or email us and let us know. If you choose to attend, we promise to do everything that we can to make it an enjoyable and memorable event. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me personally via email or telephone at the numbers below. Kind regards, Stephen Wynne stephen@xxxx 800/USA-DMC1 281/568-9573
