Charles, You're correct about wasting money on an engine rebuild. DeLorean engines should run at least 100K (not maintained) and 250K plus (maintained). When replacing the engine and transmission replace the clutch slave cylinder and definitely replace the plastic clutch line with the stainless steel up-grade. Yes; it would be easier to change the water pump and hoses with the engine removed but not much more difficult with the engine installed.
