[DML] Needs advice - engine, cat, manifolds, gaskets, exhaust, heatshields +++

Hello list,
I need some advice for my upcoming spring project on DeLorean # 6759 - 
11.000 miles.

1) New exhaust (muffler) will be installed because of rust. (Yes, rust on 
the exhaust pipes)

2) Should the cat be swapped with a new one? Its brown in color, so is this 
discoloration from heat or is it rust? Is the cat made of stainless steel?

3) What about the manifolds? They are also very, very brown. Should they be 
swapped with new ones, or is it possible to gently sandblast them??? If so, 
should they be treated with something protective???

4) I believe all the gaskets should be replaced (cat, manifolds and 
exhaust), am I right?

5) The lower part of the engine on the left side (under the manifold) has 
some "not so fine" aluminium blemishes/spots. Can anyone advice on a good 
procedure to brighten it up a little bit. This is strictly a cosmetic job on 
the outside of the aluminium engine. Can brushing the aluminium with 
sandpaper by hand be a way to do it. Or is this not advisable? I want to 
make it shiny again.

6) Heatshields. Are there any replacement heatshields available INSTEAD of 
the asbestos shields (behind the muffler and the one next to the cat)?
