HELP- On Saturday, I was driving my D and stopped to get gas. I had the A/C
running on maximum when I noticed that there was smoke coming from the
passenger side of my car. I quickly drove out of the gas line and up the
street where I had room to pull over. When I got out of my car (I left it
running) I looked around for smoke or any signs of coolant leaking from my
car. I didn't notice any, so I decided to go back to the gas station. Just as
I pulled onto the road, I noticed my temperature guage was pegged at the
highest mark. I quickly turned into a parking lot and turned it off. Aftert
waiting about 15 minutes, I started it up and drove home (about 1 mile away).
Just as I got on the road, I noticed the temperature was just at the red
mark, but it quickly went down to 220F, then it went to normal. When I got
home, I left it idle in the garage, then bleed the radiator. I got some air
out of the radiator but noticed that the fans weren't coming on. When I
checked the temp, it was again at the highest mark. I turned it off and left
it for a while. When I came back, I opened the coolant bottle and checked the
level, it was OK. I just replaced the temperature sending unit about 4 months
ago and have never had a problem like this. What can I do? Why didn't the
fans come on? Why did it overheat even with the A/C on and those same fans
running? Could I have a broken water pump? HELP...Please!!!
