[DML] Speedometer

While driving down the highway this past weekend my speedometer 
stopped working.  Before it stopped working there was a kind of 
scratching, clicking noise coming from inside or underneath the dash 
that lasted for about a minute.  I checked underneath for 
connections but did not see anything.  I have not searched for what 
this might be so I thought I would start here as I always get great 
advice and tips!  Thanks!
