I'd love to see that happen. Personally, I'm 98% interested in Tech issues.
Most events mentioned are not ones I can attend. Many peripheral, JZD or
collectible questions are of limited interest. I won't call these crap...
they have their place, but they make it harder to search the back issues for
specific topics. I started the DMCTech Yahoo group for that reason, not
visualizing it as an alternative, but rather as a "Cliff Notes" cousin to the
DML. Between copyright conflicts, (which made it impossible to share DML
data and edit it) and concerns I'd weaken the DML, and a few people who were
afraid I'd somehow get rich off publishing it in hardcopy, the thing never
got off the ground. I'd still like to use it to mount an interactive or
rather cooperative effort to redo the DeLorean Manual series. After two
years of searching, I've got original copies of everything, for the best
possible repro use. But the last 14 months I've been head over heels at work
with little time to spare. I haven't closed the site because, heck, I'd still
like to see it up and running. My apologies to those who've subscribed,
found nothing happening there, and then unsubscribed a day later. And my
DeLorean Club hat is off to the DML moderators for their unpaid hard work.
Unmoderated lists are intolerable junk piles. Anybody who wants to start one
is welcome to it. You won't find me there. Heck, I don't even have time to
read more than a few posts a day as it is.
Long live the DML! And double your money back if you're not satisfied! ;-)

So it looks like the Jags are the closest as far as rotors go. Calipers
should still be the right dimensions since the TR6 and DMC-12 both use a
Girling type 16. There are some difs within the type 16 that I'm aware.
Mainly mounting bolt hole diameter...

Looks like the front DMC-12 rotors are from a Jag Sovereign series 1,2 and
3,
1968 - 82 rears. Also on the Double Six 82-86 rear.
My orig DMC rotors hand measured:
254 mm dia, 24 mm height, 12.5 mm thich, 70 mm dia center hole, 4 bolt
The Jags show:
262 mm dia, 25.5 mm height, 12.5 mm thick, 70 mm dia center hole, 4 bolt
Specs came from www.dba.com.au Their #75 rotor.
Probably close enough. No spec on bolt hole diameter or spacing.

Subject: Introducing the DeLorean Mailing List 2!!
Hi Folks,
Due to all the recent ramblings about having a new list to post the
"rejects" and just having a different DML in general, I have decided
to start a brand new list....The DeLorean Mailing List 2!!
Here's where to subscribe: dmcnews2-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I hope to make this an unofficial branch of the DeLorean Mailing List.
ANY topic relating to DeLorean--Car, Company, and Creator--
may be discussed freely here!
It WILL be moderated, but only lightly.
So, if anyone would like to help moderate, let me know!
I want this to be as productive as possible in comparison to the regular
DML, and this can't be done by one person.
I invite everyone to take part and welcome anyone as a moderator!
Have a Great Day Everyone!!

Other new lists have sprung up in the past week or so.. Do we really need ANOTHER?!
Too all of you who are "breaking away" to start your own list, I think your doing a disservice to DeLorean community. Although I have subscribed to some of the new alternate lists, I find myself very quick with the Delete key. I'm willing to bet that I am missing good information in many cases, but some of us don't have a full day to dedicate to reading a dozen or so lists with 40-50 messages a day on each list!
In addition, I already see people posting the same message to multiple lists. Although the DML moderators seem to have rejected some of those posts.
If there is an ORGANIZED method of subdividing the lists by subject, I am all for it.. I have always considered starting a list for engine swaps, but realized that we are free to discuss topics like this on the main DML so why bother.
You say the "DML2" is really just for rejected messages, then how about calling it "DML-Rejects"? Make it clear to a newbie searching for a DeLorean list to know which list(s) to join and why.. I'd hate to have a newcomer JUST join DML2 and think that is all we have to offer.

I think that by 'self adjusting' he means that given equal pressure at the
source, psi at all 4 calipers will be the same, provided no proportioning
valves are used. Since the Delorean has a twin piston master cyl, if the bore
and stroke of the master cyl is the same for both front and rear, the psi
delivered front and rear would be the same. Right?
If someone wants to check, switch you lines front to rear at the master cyl
and let me know if the rears lock up first ..:-)

The DeLorean's switch powers a pair of relays (low and high), so this
would not apply. Each relay _should_ draw a fraction of an amp (300mA? I
forget) - suggest replacing the relays before trying a new new switch
:-) They are the two relays on the front row next to the fan(s) circuit
breakers.

John (and anyone else interested),
Centerforce makes a clutch for the D that is "aftermarket" and I
think would be up to the 300 hp. There are two models. Not to say
the drivetrain/trans would be able to cope with that much power, but
I think the clutch could. Here is a link for the clutch.

That link looks a little long... so if it doesn't work just go to
www.nopionline.com and go through the menues until you get to the
clutches. Maybe Centerforce also has a website. Good luck

Chaulk one up for clarity. Apologies. What I meant to say was IMHO
proportioning valves *aren't* necessary on 4 wheel disc, which
obviously includes little silver cars. Lincoln put them on my Mark
V's, but that may have been force of habit (I've bypassed one with no
obvious side effects).
In other words, don't sweat proportioning valves when evaluating
Xreferenced brake hardware.

The author of the above-quoted post is John Lane, of Pacific Rim
Automotive http://www.pacrimauto.com/, in Seattle. He has done some
work on local cars, including conversions to hybrids of the 3 liter
engines. No one here has had the $$$$ to go all-out with a High-power
conversion, and even the work he has performed has proven to be quite
expensive - as custom and conversion work often is.

Not ANOTHER one. PLEASE!
The idea of the Rejects List seemed to be just a place to put emails
that didn't qualify for the Real list, not a whole new list with
different moderators.
I sure hope that my fellow DML MEMBERS are concerned about having the
necessary following of interested and vocal List Members, and will stay
with the DML. Even an existing DMC Tech Forum would be better than a
virgin list.
AND - The last thing I want to hear is someone (from another DMC list)
asking the DML if what they heard on the other list is true.
Well - That's my opinion anyway.
If you're tired of hearing me rant about lists, please don't keep
bringing up the topic :-)
Thanks!

Subject: RE: what kind of turbo?
This brings up an interesting question that one or
more of you may be able to answer.
Every supercharger I have seen blows the forced
induction right through the carb or into the throttle
body. Many turbo's do the same (the turbo in
question and the Legend engine in Marc's, plus 502).
Harry Ward who had one of the first aftermarket
turbo'd cars was also a blow-thru.
HOWEVER, the BAE single turbo kit and the Turbo
Manifold Twin kit are "blow-by"; ie, the forced
induction is blown into the intake manifold to
supplement the air pulled into the throttle body.
WHY?
Is there a performance advantage of one approach over
the other? Or, does it have to do more with available
engine compartment space and/or the ease of hooking up
one system over the other.
I'd sure like an educated response.
