dmcnews-digest Wednesday, April 14 1999 Volume 03 : Number 503 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sat, 10 Apr 1999 23:34:24 -0400 From: "Sean Howley" <tsuyoi@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: DML: Car show at Pellissippi State In this issue: _SUBJECTS_ At a local weekly car show today (Sat the 10th), a guy approached me = about registering my DeLorean in a car show coming up. He gave me a = flyer and mentioned that it is an open show (for all makes) even though = it is put on by the Pontiac club. So, here is the information that I = have found so far. On May 15, the "Smoky Mountain Pontiacs of East Tennessee" are putting = on a car show. It is open to any car make - not just Pontiacs. You can = compete or just "hang out." If there is any interest in this, let me = know and I can get you more details. Cost is $12 (before April 30) or = $15 otherwise. If we can get enough people, maybe there will be an = additional class for our DeLoreans. If you have any questions and want = to ask them directly, the phone is 423-671-PONT (7668). I will make a = call early this week and get further information. The location is = Pellissippi State Community College on the Pellissippi Parkway between = Knoxville, TN and Oak Ridge, TN. I have learned so much in the past few weeks about the = Delorean DMC-12. My wife & I just picked up our 5-speed '83 DMC-12 (15786) a few weeks = ago, and we have had a blast with it! It's fun to drive (who needs = speed?); it's great to look at (this car will never look old, matter of = fact, it still looks like something out of the 'future'); and it's = interesting to talk to people about (seems like everyone has some story = to tell about a Delorean).=20 Anyway, couple of quick questions for all you experts: 1) Our door locks = don't work 100%. Driver can lock the doors just fine, but when driver = pushes his button 'down' to unlock, it will not move the passenger = button 'down' (so passenger needs to push her own button to unlock her = door). Same thing w/ the key. Driver unlocks door with the key and it = should unlock the passage door, but it does not. By the way, the = passenger CAN lock both doors just fine w/ her button. Any ideas or red = flags for me to look at?? 2) What do you all recommend for cleaning = the car (to remove simple fingerprints, etc...) Is WINDEX or other = glass cleaner safe (one that says for use w/ stainless steel)? I'm = looking for a quick spray on, wipe off cleaner. Any recommendations? I have a lot more questions, but in time. Thanks for all the = information you have already provided. time to go back...
