"Lessees were complaining that their electric bills had increased to the point that they'd rather be using gasoline." Heh. "The problem with the EV-1 was that you had to plan your life around the car, not the other way around. A car that inconveniences people is never going to sell. It was a mercy killing," Which is what I kinda stated previously. Most people don't want to pay for safety or security; they just want it to look good. People DO pay for convenience. The more I read about this, the more it makes sense they let the leases go on to recover some of the investment. I am sure their liability was extremely high so they were a law suit or twenty away from bankruptcy. My understanding is the Honda CRX was discontinued about the same time because of front end crash ratings. The EV1 looks to be about the same height in front. General Motors lost two billion dollars on the project, and lost money on every single EV1 produced. The leases didn't even cover the costs of servicing them. http://www.treehugg <http://www.treehugger.com/files/2006/07/ev1_criticism.php> er.com/files/2006/07/ev1_criticism.php [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] Yahoo!
