Lauren,

I'm not sure on the trunk dimensions but I have taken and picked up friends from the airport in my DMC and I have always used the packing shelf behind the seats(and never had a problem) which I find works well for duffel bags and rolling suitcases provided that they are not too big.  I hope this helps
