I'm thinking of buying this. Seems close to plug and play:

That's a 4 channel; I could integrate the door lights into that on
their own channel. Supply voltage says "12V AC C.T. / 200 mA" -- is
there a simple circuit around that can flip 12-14vdc to a stable 12v
ac? Otherwise, should be easy to integrate.
