afaik, a seller does have the option to pre-approve bidders and
sellers certainly have the option to set guidelines for
bidders (i.e. minimum
feedbacks, no negs in x number of months etc).
>It is a dead give away when the seller states in the

it's possible too that they're harvesting email addresses that way.

unless it's different with eBAY automotive, that's not necessarily so
with their regular auctions. I once used b-i-n on an auction, using
an alias, that required a min number of feedbacks which I didn't
have. But I immediately PayPal'd the seller and included a note
that said "I didn't think you'd mind...." In this case, the seller
just didn't want the hassle of a deadbeat winner.

well, if anyone falls for that scam they deserve to be
scammed. There was a TV show on about a week ago about the Nigerian
scam and the amazingly educated people who fell for it, including a
heart surgeon in FL.

I played along with a scammer for a while when I listed my D last
year. When we got to the part about his agent needing extra cash
just emailed and said "I'm on to you" and never heard from him again.

And then there was the first auction for Stephen Colbert's painting
that was up to high six figures the first day.
Speaking of TV -- was I the only one who saw "ANYTHING TO WIN" about
JZD on the GameShow Channel a few weeks ago?
