Hi Rick,
Actually I believe it?s more likely to be a bad C.S. thermo-time switch if
the valve is inoperative. The C.S. Valve (blue Bosch connecter and fuel hose
on top of it make it easy to locate) is located on top of a brass pipe
between the L/H intake runner and the oil breather/filler area. Remove the
two 5mm Allen bolts and perch the valve in a container to catch gas spray.
Disconnect the R/H upper pair (piggybacked) of wires on the ballast resistor
to disable the ignition and have someone crank the motor. If there is no fan
shaped spray of fuel check for loose or dirty wire connections at the C.S.
valve, thermo-switch and bulkhead connections. Next remove the switch and
replace it if it shows any signs of the 1/8? round epoxy plug coming loose
from rust. The plug is located on one of the flats on the hex used to
install the switch onto the water pump. Let me know what you find out.

Subject: [DMCForum] Cold start Valve
Hey everyone,
I am starting to have a cold start problem. Never had it before but
all of a sudden It takes me a Long time to start (Sometimes as much as
15min) When it starts it has no problems at all (Unless I leave it a
long time). I'm Thinking it is the cold start valve but how do I test
it to make sure? I'm not very mechanically inclined so if this is
something I need to take to a Mechanic, please let me know! I Had
talked to Rob Grady a while back about it and he said to loosen the
Hex screws and I should see a spray of gas and if I don't then it is
the Valve. I assumed I could fine those screws but I'm still looking
for them...Is their somewhere on line that shows me how to test this?
Thanks for your time....
Rick Barranco
