Not quite: http://www.commutercars.com/ 0-60 in 4 seconds and a top speed of 150mph. Yes, it looks silly, but I sat in that red prototype you see on the front page and this car rocks. I'd trade my DeLorean for one. Problem, the price has gone from an initial $85k to $108k and they're not actually available yet. However, if you showed up in Spokane, WA with +/- $100k in cash, I'm betting they'd make you one. The designer & owner of the company is a really great guy. I loved this quote, though: "Then, after reading biographies of John DeLorean and Preston Tucker, and reminding himself that launching a car company was a crazy idea, he did just that." Eighty grand is a bit much, though. I can't imagine Rich has more than a few grand into his little toy. If they could get this car under about $30k, I'd buy one. So would a lot of other people. At $80k it will be a toy for tiny percent of the population, rather than any real impact in the automotive world. -Ryan On 7/20/06, Dave Stragand <dave.stragand@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > http://www.wired.com/news/wiredmag/0,71414-0.html?tw=rss.index > > "The Tesla Roadster is powered by 6,831 rechargeable lithium-ion > batteries -- the same cells that run a laptop computer.
