The trans is in the car.. Got the fuel pump electronics and tachometer working last night. All I need to do now is the exhaust system (waiting for the mufflers to come in) The Porsche 915 is a nice fit, but as I explained a few weeks back the center section of the frame needs to be modified for the axle shafts to line up properly. It sits farther back in the car than I would have liked too. I had to toss out another "design goal" of the project, and modify the fiberglass in the rear fascia so the front of the engine does not hit it. Used 915 boxes can be had for under $1000 complete. I found a good deal on a "rebuilt" one on Ebay that was from a 83 Euro-Spec 911 so it can handle a bit more power and comes with an oil cooler. I had to change the output flanges on it though. If you are doing a conversion, you may want to consider making a custom bell-housing (or finding someone to do it for you). As you know, this is the route I took back in 2001 when I started this project, but the big mistake I made was *who* I farmed this job out to. He was very unreliable, and was more of a "machine operator" than a fabricator. If you want, I can try and get some photos on-line. --- Ryan Wright <ryanpwright@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Hey Marc, > > Speaking of transmissions - how'd you come out with > the Porsche tranny > you were trying to fit? > > Has anyone figured out if there is a manual tranny > that fits in our > cars and can handle higher HP?
