There was some talk awhile back about the possibility of the dash VIN tag being painted to reduce glare. My car has a black interior and a black tag but since it is an early car I am wondering if the plate was painted. I was looking at a car today in the 4000 VIN range with a gray interior and notice the dash tag was painted gray. Around the edges you could see some black as the gray paint was lifting off. The underlying black didn't look like paint but like the black VIN tags I have seen pictures of on early cars. Has anyone tried to carefully remove the paint to see if their plate has "DMC Belfast" on it? Whenever I can get to mine I am going to try. Does anyone know if the early tags were plated, anodized or something else? Greg [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] Yahoo!
